New Gate System Set to Improve Parking Efficiency
Parking and Transportation Services is undergoing a new parking system implementation.
Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) is implementing a new parking access system across campus—replacing two legacy platforms with a unified, modern solution designed to elevate the parking experience for everyone at Georgia Tech.
New equipment is being installed in all 21 gated parking decks and surface lots, laying the foundation for more efficient parking. Once fully operational, this system will give PTS critical insights into campuswide usage patterns, helping us improve operations and identify opportunities for future enhancements. By establishing a robust baseline, we’re paving the way for exciting innovations ahead—including streamlined access tools, improved guest parking validations for sponsoring departments, and more efficient event parking management. Please see the implementation schedule below to follow our progress. We anticipate full completion by the end of October 2025.

The new system will streamline and modernize parking operations in a variety of ways, including:
- Touchscreen Kiosks. Improves user interaction with easy-to-read displays.
- Mobile Pay. Tap and pay using a credit card or smartphone.
- Cashless Machines. Speeds up exit times and reduces wait times.
- QR Code Ticket Payment. Pay by phone before exiting by scanning the ticket’s QR code.
- Direct Intercom Assistance. Instantly connect with parking dispatch if help is needed.
- Event and Hotel Guest Programming. Specialized parking options for smoother guest experiences.
- Online Guest Parking Validation. No more stickers, and an improved online validation process.
- Hands-Free Entry and Exit (To be Determined). Accommodates a vehicle tag to allow instant access upon approaching the gate. Permit holders will continue to use their BuzzCards for seamless access as the system is being implemented on campus.
