In recent years, Georgia Tech’s campus has experienced significant growth, with the expansion of Technology Square, Science Square, and new student housing. Alongside these developments, major infrastructure projects such as the Ferst Drive realignment and cycle track will have a significant effect on campus transit demand and rider preferences. To accommodate the evolving campus environment, Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) is implementing a series of route modifications and network improvements aimed at enhancing efficiency, accessibility, and the overall rider experience.

The following route changes will take effect on Monday, Aug. 11.

Updates to Weekday Routes

    • Gold: The Gold Route will now start and end at the Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons turnaround and will service the area between Midtown and the central campus.

    • Red: The Red Route has been redesigned for bidirectional service connecting the North Avenue Apartments to West Village. The Red Route will now service Techwood Drive and the northern portion of Ferst Drive.

    • Blue: The Blue Route has been redesigned for bidirectional service connecting the North Avenue Apartments to West Village via the southern portion of campus. It will service Cherry Street and Ferst Drive, connecting to the Weber Space Science and Technology Building turnaround and the John Lewis Student Center.

    • Green: The Green Route will be condensed to improve frequency while maintaining inter-route connectivity. The loop includes stops at the Student Competition Center, 14th at State Street, and the GTRI Conference Center.

    •  Emory: No change; Emory route remains the same.

    • NARA/Science Center: This route services the North Avenue Research Area (NARA) and Science Square building locations.

    • Clough/Tech Square: This route has been discontinued. Portions of this route are now incorporated into the Gold Route.

    New Weekday Routes

    • Northside Drive/Atlantic Station: The Northside Drive to Atlantic Station route will enhance access for students living near campus and provide students with access to shopping and entertainment at Atlantic Station.
    • Circulator: A core campus circulator route will operate counterclockwise from the Weber Space Science and Technology Building turnaround to the John Lewis Student Center.

New Stinger routes can be viewed on our Stinger Shuttle Website and in the TransLoc app.

    Weekend Service Enhancements

The weekend network introduces two dedicated routes, which will overlap on State Street to enable transfers. This redesign increases shopping access and transit connectivity.

    • Atlantic Station Route: Services West Campus to Atlantic Station.
    • Midtown/Publix/MARTA Route: Services the North Avenue Apartments and East Campus to Midtown.

    Expanded Late-Night Transportation Service

Currently, late-night campus transit relies on the Midnight Rambler and on-demand Stingerette service — two offerings that often overlap. To improve coverage and efficiency, Georgia Tech is expanding late-night service across several Stinger routes.

    • The Gold, Red, and Blue Routes will now operate until 3:15 a.m., replacing the Midnight Rambler.
    • The Circulator Route will run until midnight.
    Stingerette Nighttime Safety Service (On-Demand)

The Stingerette will shift to designated pickup locations and focus on areas not served by Stinger routes. It will no longer provide service between on-campus locations. Instead, it will support late-night travel between campus and nearby off-campus residential areas — improving efficiency, reducing wait times, and simplifying operations.

New campus pickup locations can be viewed on our Stingerette website and in the TransLoc app.

    The Beginning Stages

Over the past year, Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) developed a Transit Master Plan using a combination of service and market data, field assessments, and engagement with students, faculty, and staff. Through a collaborative, iterative process, PTS reviewed route concepts, analyzed travel behavior, and refined route recommendations to reflect community feedback and operational feasibility.

    Key Findings

Through market and service assessments, PTS discovered areas of improvement for area coverage, route design, service redundancy, and performance. The Transit Master Plan proposes a series of route modifications and network improvements aimed at enhancing efficiency, accessibility, and overall rider experience.
